Nick is of Rongawhakaata, and Ngāti Ruapani descent.

He has a PhD in microbiology and is a Senior Lecturer at Auckland University’s School of Biological Sciences and Senior Scientist and Science Group Leader at Plant & Food Research.

Nick is also a Māori champion/kaiāwhina with Bioprotection Aotearoa.
