Waimirirangi is a descendant of Waikato, Ngātiwai, Ngāti Tura and Te Whānau-a-Apanui. She is a product of the Kōhanga Reo, Kura Kaupapa and Wharekura full immersion te reo Māori movements. Her work is dedicated and committed to advancing the rights of Indigenous peoples’, and in doing so, elevating the importance of te ao Māori, mātauranga and te reo Māori in the protection and restoration of our taiao and taonga species.
